Choosing your new floor

Create your dream floor by piecing together your choice of wood species, laying pattern, texture, and finish. Ensuring your choice is the right one with wood samples, we can then begin to supply and install your new wood floor.

We are also proud to be both Cornwall’s only Junckers approved contractor – the leading manufacturer of Danish hardwood flooring – and a supplier of Ted Todd Fine Wood Floors, an independent British floor manufacturer which shares our passion for creating high-quality hardwood flooring using wood from ethically-managed forests.

If you have any questions or want some advice on your wood flooring project, get in touch with our team.

Walnut

Highly regarded for its warming tones and striking patterns, walnut is a highly sustainable wood species which is most suitable for those looking to add a sense of depth and luxury to a space.

Laying pattern

The pattern of your floor can make a statement, from planks in traditional, wide and mixed widths, to more intricate designs such as herringbone, Versailles panel and continuous weave.

Grades

At the sawmill timber is graded by quality, which varies according to each species. The choice of grade used brings different visual aspects to the overall design and appearance of your floor. Choose from three different grades of wood: character, harmony, and prime. These can be seen below.

Character

The ‘character’ grade offers natural colour variation, with varying grade patterns, and any large knots filled with a suitably coloured wood filler.

Harmony

With a cleaner appearance and less colour variation than a ‘character’ grade of wood, the ‘harmony’ grade has fewer and smaller knots, which are filled with subtle filler.

Prime

The cleanest look with a uniform colour and grain, a ‘prime’ grade of wood has very small knots and no filler.

Colours, textures and finishes

The finish and texture of the wood you choose is fundamental to the resulting style of your new floor. We offer countless variations of textures, colours and finishes to give your next project that personal touch.

Choose from a brushed finish for a clean, contemporary look, or opt for reclaimed wood for a more characterful and storied feel. We offer fumed finishes for hard-wearing and consistent colouration, or your choice from countless finishing colours.
